  • What would I be doing?

    The team member in this position is responsible for identifying, negotiating, contracting and managing Group accounts with whose objectives and needs complement Ameristar Casino Resort Spa St. Charles. The team member in this position will strategize to identify, develop, prioritize, and pursue new and additional group business opportunities through the implementation of the sales agreement. The team member in this position is responsible for driving revenue to the conference center, hotel and all non-gaming outlets.


    • Develop and book future business by identifying potential leads and actively soliciting future business within the given market deployment
    • Negotiate terms, quote rates and prepare sales agreements on designated Conference Center and Hotel business in order to maximize revenues for the Conference Center, Hotel and Property as a whole. This involves detailed follow-up to ensure a smooth transition into the planning phase through departure of guests
    • Generate ideas and initiatives that further develop existing accounts while identifying new business opportunities to drive additional revenue
    • Find qualified leads utilizing all types of resources including tech portals and third party agencies
    • Develop strategies for winning bids on potential group business opportunities
    • Responsible for building and retaining client relations resulting in exceptional guest service and repeat business
    • Provide input to the Director of Sales regarding negotiated terms for potential group business based on the needs of the client and Ameristar Casino St. Charles 
    • Engage in a sales-focused atmosphere that promotes sales growth
    • Maintain knowledge of competitor’s sales and convention programs in order to generate future leads and be able to sell against the competitive set’s strengths and weakness
    • Maintain knowledge of all promotions throughout the property in an effort to stimulate and retain new business.
    • Represent Ameristar Casino Resort Spa at meeting industry conventions/networking events in all territories when needed which may include business after hours and overnight travel.
    • Maintain a positive professional image at all times.
    • Perform all related duties as assigned by Director of Sales

    What are we looking for?

    • Broad understanding of managing group travel, meetings, events, and group sales is required.
    • Proven history of sales success that clearly showcases an understanding of guest service and revenue growth is required.
    • Knowledge of casino industry and/or hotel and resort marketing as it pertains to group sales is preferred.
    • Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office.  Knowledge of Delphi Sales & Catering Software is preferred.
    • Must be able to obtain and maintain all appropriate licenses I certifications per Federal, State, and Gaming regulations.

    These skills and abilities are typically acquired through the completion of a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in marketing, business, or related field, as well as three to five years of experience in business development experience in the hospitality industry.   A minimum of two years of progressively responsible management experience is required.  Previous experience in the hotel/resort industry preferred.


    ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: (Licenses, Certifications, Testing, etc.):

    Possession of, and ability to obtain and maintain a valid drivers and gaming license within assigned state of employment and other jurisdictions

    Must successfully pass background check

    Must successfully pass an alcohol and drug screening

    Must be 21 years of age
