The Bartender greets and interacts with our guest in a friendly, courteous, responsive and accurate manner; provides beverage service to guests while providing excellent customer relations; acts as cashier for the guest and servers of the assigned outlet; provides routine support duties to higher level management staff; and performs related tasks within area of assignment.

Assumes responsibility for beverage service to guests while providing excellent customer relations; and acts as cashier for the guest and servers of the assigned outlet.
Pours and mixes drinks according to established recipes; maintains a clean and safe work environment; and maintains company funds and equipment in an orderly manner.
Ensures compliance with all state and federal laws and regulations concerning over serving guest and serving alcohol to minors under the age of twenty-one (21).
Demonstrates specific product offerings and ordering procedures.
Monitors proper par levels of all supplies at the bar.
Communicates any problems or situations to immediate supervisor or higher level management staff.
Ensures the accuracy and security of assigned bank and maintains accountability for any and all overages and shortages.
Opens and closes bar according to established procedures.
Provides work direction for bar attendants assigned to bar.
Notifies higher level management of any suspicious or unusual activity and/or transactions in a timely manner.
Attends and participates in professional group meetings; maintains awareness of new trends and innovations in the field of customer service.
Performs related duties and responsibilities as required.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
(Related education and experience may be interchangeable on a year for year basis)
Some experience to effectively perform the position duties, with at least two (2) years experience in high volume cocktail service preferred.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: (Licenses, Certifications, Testing, etc.):
Possession of, and ability to maintain a valid alcohol server’s certification (TABC)
Must successfully pass background check
Must successfully pass an alcohol and drug screening
Must be eighteen (18) years of age
Must be willing to work weekends, Friday and Saturday nights, and holidays if needed.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:
Operations, services and activities of a customer service and bar operation; method and techniques of beverage sales and deliveries; knowledge of table service procedures and table etiquette; familiarity with beverages and wine service; cashiering and denominations of currency; drink mixology and bar equipment; principles and practices of cleaning standards; pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations.
Takes orders, stock supplies and bus bar area; observes and directs actions of bussers to inspect and maintain assigned areas; review and comprehend drink recipes; pour cocktails and use all equipment associated with the position including but not limited to cash register and bar equipment; retrieve supplies and maintain a clean working area; operate a variety of equipment which includes bar and soft drink dispensing equipment, blenders, dishwashers and coffee making machines; receive monies and make change; communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work; prepare clear and concise reports; interpret and explain policies and procedures; interpret and apply federal, state and local policies, laws and regulations.
Retama Park Racetrack is a class 1 pari-mutuel horse-racing track located in Selma, Texas a short 20 minutes from downtown San Antonio. The property hosts live racing on weekends with quarter horses running from June 7 through August 10 and live thoroughbred racing from October 4 through December 28; open daily for simulcast wagering.
