Ameristar Casino Hotel Council Bluffs, which includes the largest riverboat in Iowa, was modeled after the historic riverboats that plied the waters of the Missouri River in the 1800s. Located in the greater Omaha metropolitan area, this property has received the prestigious Four Diamond designation from the American Automobile Association and, in 2004, was named "Property of the Year" by the Iowa Lodging Association. The property also features a 38,500 square-foot casino, five dining options, three bars, an entertainment venue and 8,000 square-feet of meeting and event space.

This position will prepare and present food items following menu specifications and standard recipes while maintaining a clean and safe environment.  Will lead the passionate charge for excellence in food quality and service every time. 


Demonstrate working  knowledge of basic cooking and preparation methods


Prepare food items following menu specifications and standard recipes


Safely and effectively use all equipment essential to the position


Organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines


Ensure quality standards and cost control measures are followed


Responsible for all routine opening, during-service, and closing functions and checklists


Interact with fellow Team Members in a cooperative manner


Communicate clearly using appropriate language and conduct when engaging Guests and Team Members


Abide by all Health Department and Steritech food safety requirements


Participate in all required training and meetings essential to the position


Work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays


Have a complete knowledge of MSDS location, cleaning products, equipment, PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) and supplies


Adhere to established department and property policies and procedures, including but not limited to: Standards of Conduct, attendance, appearance, cash handling, confidentiality, safety, and sanitation


A degree or certificate from a culinary arts institute desired


Minimum 1 year culinary experience


Must have basic knowledge of cooking and preparation methods


Able to perform all cooking duties


Must complete training or certification required for the position


Must be able to work at a fast pace with a sense of urgency


Able to share or divide attention among several ongoing activities, projects or assignments


Must have excellent Guest service skills


Ability to effectively work independently and as part of a team


Ability to follow all policies and procedures including but not limited to attendance, appearance, safety and security policies


Able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays


Able to communicate effectively to Guests, Team Members and leaders
