Overview

Under general supervision, obtains guests’ food and beverage orders, ensures accurate and timely service of all orders, maintains cleanliness of assigned area, duties will include, but not be limited to all responsibilities below and other duties assigned by management.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver internal and external guest service the Pinnacle Way.  Always exhibit a friendly and approachable demeanor.  Be polite and courteous when speaking with guests and team members.  Look for and act upon opportunities to assist guests and team members.  Be sincere and genuine during all interactions.  Be prepared with the knowledge and skill required to be responsive to guests and team members’ needs and questions.
  • Answer guest questions about Ameristar East Chicago restaurants including operating hours and answer general questions about property facility and services.
  • Knowledgably converse with guests regarding unique Stadium sports memorabilia.
  • Familiar with Stadium beer menu, including styles descriptions, and able to assist guests with appropriate pairings.
  • From memory, suggest signature cocktails to guests using ingredients and flavor descriptions.
  • Familiar with Stadium food menu, including description, price, add-ons and able to assist guests alcohol pairing.
  • Assist guests with beverage and food selection, demonstrating salesmanship with complete product knowledge and ability to upsell menu items. Inform guests of restaurant specials, featured items and personal favorites.
  • Obtain food and beverage orders from guests.
  • Check identification of guests to verify age requirements for purchase of alcohol.  Ensure guests ordering and consuming alcoholic beverages are at least 21 years of age. Abide by all State, State Gaming, Federal and Corporate liquor regulations, including those pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests.
  • Recognize guests immediately with a friendly, courteous greeting and inform them of any specialty cocktails, restaurant specials, featured items, personal favorites, promotions, events, and other information.
  • Accurately account for and collect payment for all food and beverage orders through POS system in a timely manner.
  • Consistently maintain assigned area in a clean, safe and sanitary manner.  Use and maintain all assigned equipment in a sanitary, safe and effective manner.
  • Check all supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels.  Stock service areas with supplies such as coffee, food, tableware, and linens. Fill salt, pepper, clean and stock ashtrays, sugar, cream, condiment and napkin containers. Participate in liquor glassware removal, ensuring compliance with all Indiana Gaming Commission regulations and Indiana Alcohol and Tobacco Commission regulations.
  • Deliver beverage and food orders to guests throughout assigned section in a timely manner.
  • Discretely clear individual settings from guest’s table as each course is completed. 
  • Limit problems related to guests’ alcohol consumption by providing responsible alcohol service, as taught in the responsible alcohol certification course.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of table/seat/station numbers, hours of operations, proper table set-up.
  • Must maintain proper uniform requirements of the position including wearing special event uniforms provided for Holidays and other special occasions deemed by management.
  • Maintain a well-groomed, neat, clean appearance, in accordance with established appearance policy.
  • Assist as requested with special events on and off property.
  • Perform food preparation duties such as garnishing beverages, preparing salads setups, appetizer setups, dessert setups, brewing tea/coffee and preparing their setups for services.
  • Serve food and beverages to guests, and prepare or serve specialty dishes at tables as required, followed by monitoring your tables for cleanliness.
  • Check with guests to ensure they are enjoying their meals and take action to correct any problems.
  • Assist with overall dining service and ensure dining and serving areas are set up and maintained according to standard.
  • Carry out and follow through with preparation and other requirements of all event requests, on and off property.
  • Observe and adhere to Health Department regulations regarding food handling, storage, proper steam table temperature, and cleanliness of work environment.
  • Attend all company/restaurant training programs as they are scheduled.
  • Complete opening, closing and other side duties as assigned by the supervisors.
  • Collect and accurately report tips at the end of the assigned shift.
  • Resiliently deal with difficult guests in all types of business conditions and work harmoniously with coworkers.
  • Perform all job functions in conjunction with the guidelines described in the Standard Operating Procedures manual to ensure consistent execution of company and department standards.
  • Perform all duties as assigned by management.  

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with internal and external guests effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a high volume restaurant.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain responsible alcohol service certification.
  • Must be able to obtain a valid Indiana Alcohol and Tobacco Commission Liquor Permit prior to the commencement of employment.
  • Must be able to pass all Stadium Food Server training tests.
  • Must be able to learn, retain and apply on the job, all knowledge taught in Stadium Server training, including but not limited to Stadium sports memorabilia, beer menus, cocktail & food menus and all service standards.
  • One year of high volume Food Server experience preferred.
