Overview

Tired of working out of a service van? Do you want to be warm in the winter and cool in the summer? Ameristar Casino is need of an in house plumber to join our Facilities team. Salary is based on experience. 

 

Critical skill sets required for this position include a Journeyman Plumber, to maintain and repair equipment as needed. Also must possess experience and knowledge of working with Life Safety Systems, including, but not limited to fire detection alarms, sprinkler systems, and less critical events such as power failure.

Responsibilities

  • Must have experience with working with copper, PEX, PVC and black pipe.
  • Must have experience sweating and soldering joints as well as solder repairs on leaking plumbing lines.
  • The operation of cooling and heating systems in hotel rooms particularly with fan coil units.
  • Must have experience in the use of drain cleaning equipment.
  • Experience with the installation and operation of fire sprinkler systems is desired but not required.
  • Must have journeyman level experience or equivalent in the plumbing trade.
  • Must have strong problem-solving skills.
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of energy and take proactive and strategic approach to issues.
  • Must have the ability to sustain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Must have the ability to work as a team or on your own.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with Team Members at all levels of the organization.
  • Highly organized and detailed.
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills is preferred.
  • Three years’ experience in the Facilities Maintenance field in the hospitality or related field preferred.

Qualifications

  • Troubleshooting, repair, maintenance and installation of plumbing systems in a hotel / casino environment.
  • Responding to and repairing leaks on plumbing systems in the hotel and casino.
  • Perform new installations as required, which includes running new lines and installing fixtures such as toilets, sinks, faucets, shower heads etc.
  • Respond to drain back-ups on the property and take the necessary actions to clear them.
  • Working as part of a team you must be willing and able to help out in other areas of the Facilities department when needed.
  • Design and implement plans for new installations.
  • Coordinate and schedule outside contractors as needed.
