Overview

Responsible for the tasks assigned by the Steward Assistant and Executive Steward.  Coordinate materials and equipment to maintain cleanliness/sanitation of work station, and communicate problems/concerns to supervisor or kitchen management.

Responsibilities

  1. Maintain sanitation levels.
  2. This position requires considerable physical activity on a continuous basis throughout the shift including working in confined spaces and awkward positions, requiring standing, crouching, kneeling, stooping and reaching overhead.
  3. Ability to comprehend product labeling instructions to enable the safe application of products.
  4. Maintain inventory of supplies needed to perform job function.
  5. Insure the cleanliness of all floors, walls, dishes, pots, etc.
  6. Insure “Wet Floor” signs and other markers are used.
  7. Make sure kitchen workers have and use the proper equipment necessary for the job (gloves, goggles, chemicals, etc.).
  8. Insure that all equipment functions properly.
  9. Always conduct oneself in a manner that reflects a positive professional image.
  10. Assist in training all kitchen workers in all aspects of safety.
  11. Train kitchen personnel on proper chemical usage and safety applications.
  12. Maintain the levels and standards of cleanliness and safety set by Ameristar Casino St. Charles and the Health Department.
  13. Ability to grasp, bend, lift and/or carry, or otherwise, move or push goods on a cart weighing a maximum of 50 lbs on occasion.
  14. Job Tasks must be finished in a timely manner according to department standards.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to stand for the duration of the shift
  • Must be able to lift at least 25 lbs. repetitively
  • Flexible to work weekends, holidays and any shift
  • Familiar with kitchen equipment
