Reporting to Pinnacle Entertainment’s Vice President of Enterprise Learning & Leadership Development, the Director of Leadership Development will play a key role in supporting succession planning and talent development across all of Pinnacle’s Properties and the Las Vegas Service Center. This includes direct responsibility for the design, development, implementation and facilitation of programs for high potential leadership talent at all levels of the organization. The Director of Leadership Development will also guide efforts related to talent calibration and career development planning, and conduct targeted executive development sessions.  

NOTE: This position is based at Ameristar St. Charles in St. Louis, MO; travel required. 


  • Support all aspects of succession planning, including planning, tracking, execution and communication (working with Vice President of Enterprise Learning & Leadership Development). 
  • Partner with HR Leaders and Operators to guide talent calibration discussions and individualized career development planning, ensuring consistency and effectiveness.
  • Design, development and implement programs for high potential leaders at all levels of the organization with measurable results.
  • Facilitate high potential leadership development programs and executive development sessions; facilitate other leadership development programs as needed, modeling adult learning and leadership best practices.
  • Guide the consistent use of Pinnacle’s Coaching & Performance Management Tools.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on leadership development and succession best practices.
  • Provide performance consulting and L&D Team support as needed.
  • Support L&D business planning and continuous improvement; lead change efforts as needed.
  • Manage large scale L&D projects as needed.


  • At least 7 years of leadership development experience, emphasizing executive coaching and solutions for the development of high potential leadership talent.
  • Proven track record with talent assessment and executive coaching.
  • Well-versed in Learning & Development and Leadership Development best practices, research and trends.
  • Hands-on experience designing, developing and implementing targeted development programs for high potential leaders at all levels with proven results.
  • Strong succession planning experience and capabilities.
  • Strong leadership skills, business acumen, critical thinking and problem solving skills with an ability to “think outside the box” about approaches that will maximize business impact.
  • Exceptional communication, collaboration and influence skills with an ability to provide performance consulting at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong facilitation skills and presence.
  • Superior computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong organizational and time/priority management skills with a sense of urgency in exceeding company goals and objectives.
  • Experience overseeing large-scale Leadership Development projects.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent combination of training, education and professional experience
  • The following are preferred: experience in hospitality, retail, entertainment or other consumer-driven service business; leadership development and/or executive coaching certifications.
