Boomtown New Orleans, located on the West Bank of the Mississippi in New Orleans and approximately 15 minutes from the French Quarter, opened in 1994 and features a 30,000-square-foot casino with more than 1,200 slot machines and 31 table games. In 2015, Boomtown opened a new five-story hotel with 150 guest rooms, spacious meeting space and state-of-the-art fitness center just steps away from the casino action. Boomtown New Orleans also features four casual and fine dining venues, a nightclub entertainment venue and more than 14,000 square feet of meeting and conference space.

Overview

The incumbent in this position is responsible for providing superior service to both the internal and external customer.  The incumbent is also responsible for performing a wide variety of diagnoses and repairs of slot machines, with infrequent assistance; possesses extensive knowledge of both mechanical and electronic aspects of slot machine repair; provides training or assistance to lesser experienced technicians.

Responsibilities

Provides superior customer service, positively effects interactions with external and internal customers and team members, and has the resiliency to deal with difficult customers in all types of business conditions and the ability to work harmoniously with coworkers

 

Diagnoses and repairs mechanical and electronic slot machine malfunctions with minimal guidance or assistance

 

Replaces parts and circuit boards which have caused malfunctions; may repair some circuit boards, with assistance

 

May utilize shop machines to fabricate standard or routine parts

 

May occasionally act as a specialist in either mechanical or electronic areas

 

May be given occasional assignments to provide training to lesser experienced technicians or trainees

 

Maintains moderate skill levels in mechanical and electronic functions, with possible advanced skills in either

 

Performs general and preventive maintenance slot machine inspection, machine moving and installation

 

Must be able to trouble shoot all EGD’S and be self motivated

 

Qualifications

This position spends time on the casino floor and is subject to varying levels of crowds, noise and smoke, the degree of which depends upon customer volume

This position is at times subjected to hazards such as electrical shocks

Ability to communicate effectively at all times with customer, as well as all levels of team members

Ability to observe and direct actions of trainees

Ability to inspect and maintain areas for which responsible

Must be able to review and comprehend all necessary documentation

Must be able to carry, bend, climb, squat, and lift up to 50 pounds, and push/pull up to 125 pounds so as to be able to reach all areas of machines in need of repair and move machines around work area as needed

 

The complete range of radio frequency, high voltage, mechanical and pallet jacks, hand trucks, electronic diagnostic and repair equipment including Bally Test Equipment, IGT Test Equipment, other diagnostic and repair equipment, such as oscilloscopes (signal tracing with A-B comparisons and external trigger), monitor pattern generators, CRT rejuvenator, EPROM checker-programmer, all machine testers (troubleshooting major boards to component level) AC and DC supplies (to locate over-current conditions), power supply testers, probes, soldering stations, heat guns, tube rejuvenators, emulator processors and a variety of hand tools, drill presses, grinders, other high speed component rotary appliances, arc and gas welders.

 

General understanding of electronics at the circuit board level

General understanding of microprocessors

Ability to use all machine test equipment

Must be 21 years old

Ability to obtain Louisiana Gaming License

 

These skills are typically acquired through the completion of an AA degree in Electronics and one-year slot repair experience, or through a minimum of two years’ progressive slot repair experience
