Overview

Pinnacle Entertainment is seeking a highly skilled and passionate manager-level candidate to join us in our mission to become the Best Casino Entertainment Company in the World by maximizing the impact of Learning & Development on organizational performance. Reporting directly to the V.P. of Human Resources and indirectly to the Sr. L&D Business Partner, the Learning & Development (L&D) Business Partner will enable business results by overseeing all aspects of property talent development efforts, including budgeting, resourcing, quality assurance and reporting for classroom programs, on-the-job training and eLearning, and both formal and informal leadership development solutions. The L&D business Partner will also partner with other HR leaders to provide performance consulting support to property leaders, participate in the design and development of organizational learning solutions, and facilitate leadership development and professional skills development programs.   

Responsibilities

  • Well-versed on Learning & Development research, trends and best practices as they relate to the business, industry and competitive climate.
  • Asks effective consultative questions to analyze needs and define the Learning & Development objectives that will drive organizational performance and business results.
  • Contributes to the design of various Learning & Development solutions by determining the most effective approaches to achieve specific performance outcomes and recommending both formal and informal learning activities to fuel program impact.
  • Provides creative, business-focused methods to measure the results of Learning & Development solutions.
  • Applies knowledge of adult learning principles and other Learning & Development best practices to proactively support the development of targeted Learning & Development program materials for a variety of programs (classroom, on-the-job and self-directed).
  • Provides compelling input on the prioritization of talent development solutions.
  • Links recommendations to organizational goals, strategies and capabilities.
  • Sought out as a trusted resource for questions about leadership development and other talent development best practices. 
  • Builds a network of collaborative partnerships with people at all levels of the organization to fuel the impact of the Learning & Development Function.
  • Helps team members at all levels to see the “bigger talent development picture” by identifying opportunities for individual and organizational growth.
  • Gains buy in and advocacy for programs and initiatives by effectively communicating and influencing the business case for Learning & Development.
  • Communicates clear connections between the content of existing Learning & Development programs and desired future outcomes.
  • Appropriately challenges the status quo and proactively weighs in on opportunities for continuous improvement of programs, even when out of direct span of control.
  • Conveys a personal commitment to Learning & Development embracing continuous development and mastering new skills (and helping others to do the same); “walks the L&D talk”.
  • Acts as the voice of the business in all matters related to Learning & Development by effectively balancing best practices with business realities and offering high impact solutions to address challenges.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on professional with exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to effectively design, develop and facilitate Learning & Development Programs.
  • Well-versed in adult learning / Learning & Development best practices, research and trends.
  • Proven performance consulting capabilities, coupled with strong influence, collaboration and problem solving skills.
  • Superior computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with leadership coaching and development.
  • Experience with developing strategies to support, develop and engage a diverse workforce.
  • Strong organizational and time/priority management skills with a sense of urgency in exceeding company goals and objectives.
  • Experience in hospitality, retail, entertainment or other consumer-driven service business is highly preferred.
  • Professional HR or L&D certifications (or the equivalent) preferred.
  • The capabilities necessary to perform the job are typically acquired through a Bachelor’s Degree and at least 3 years of experience in the Learning & Development field along with 5 years of management experience or an equivalent combination of training, education and professional experience.
