Overview

Assists the Cage Manager in managing the entire cage operation, including payroll cost control, scheduling of supervisory staff, compliance of internal controls and state and federal regulations. Safeguards company assets. In manager’s absence, ensures the timely collection, accounting, recording and safekeeping of funds. Ensures that cash, chips and check cashing transactions and procedures are properly enforced. Maintains a superior level of guest service in all duties performed.

Responsibilities

  • Adheres to guest service requirements listed above.
  • Must maintain confidence on information disclosed by Ameristar.
  • Adheres to established department and property policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for the movement and protection of company funds. This includes repeated lifting of up to 35 lbs and pushing/pulling a cart.
  • Recommends to Cage Manager new operational policies and procedures for cage operations.
  • Manages the daily tracking of variances and attendance for all cage Team Members.
  • Provides leadership to all cage Team Members.
  • Will be required to be on-call 24 hours/seven days a week.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the cage operation is managed within the policies and procedures established by management and Missouri Gaming Commission.
  • Ensures accountability of cage funds.
  • Schedules staff based on business demands. (Supervisory and Team Members)
  • Ensures that access to the cage areas is by authorized personnel only and that sensitive keys are properly controlled.
  • Assists in approving Team Member work schedules and other personnel related functions such as hiring, transferring, terminating and training.
  • Maintains communication with other departments, Team Members and guests to ensure positive experiences.
  • Provides consistent positive counseling to Supervisors and Team Members.
  • Assists in evaluating supervisory staff on a regular basis.
  • Makes a positive contribution to the development of cage Team Members and the department as a whole.
  • Coaches, monitors and develops the supervisory staff, and Team Members for improved performance.
  • Issues timely performance evaluations on subordinates and offer clear guidelines and resources to achieve goals.

Qualifications

Required Knowledge and Skills 

  • Strong problem solving, mediation, and consulting skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledgeable of Missouri gaming laws.
  • Fully competent in Microsoft Office

Required Education and Work Experience 

  • High School diploma, some college classes, or degree preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years Casino Cage experience, which includes two (2) years Cage supervisory experience.  
  • Excellent verbal communication required with good administrative skills.
  • Good math skills
  • Excellent written and communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate, understand and write in English.
  • Posses the ability to assume responsibility for daily duties/tasks in addition to those listed above.
